Penang, March 2009 - The proud Chefs’ team of PARKROYAL Penang, Malaysia took home eleven medals and a diploma at this year’s Penang 12th Battle of the Chefs Competition which was held in March 2009. The event was held at the Penang International Sports Arena for three consecutive days.
More than 440 chefs and novices from the Asia region participated in the lively event. Many talented young chefs walked away with a significant number of medals and awards.
The PARKROYAL team took home two gold medals, five silver medals, four bronze medals and one diploma for the hotel. It was our Sous Chef Kek Chye Cheng and Commis Cook Tan Soon Yeong who proudly walked away with the two golds for Fruits and Vegetable Carving – Live Competition.
Resort and spa Executive Chef Andy Oh explained that their achievement took the team a few months of preparation training before the competition. “I am very proud of our team as most of them are first-timers to participate in this large international-scale competition,” he told.
