Information Technology Manager

Position Summary

This is a senior management position and its roles are to plan, direct and co-ordinate the information technology resources of the company, which will include the infrastructures, applications and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • To prepare the company’s IT annual budgets and submit to corporate office for approval.  The budget will include capital expenditure for IT, purchases of new software, updates, training requirements, etc.  On the budgets’ approval, the incumbent plans to implement the IT plans for the hotels and ensure that the IT expenditures are well spent.   

  • To develop and spearhead the company's IT infrastructure and support the extensive operation systems and network.  The incumbent ensures that IT systems are operating smoothly through implementation of effective maintenance programs, installations of antivirus kits and protection of network security.   

  • To monitor the operational efficiency of the hotel IT systems and take appropriate remedial measures to correct systems inadequacies, etc. 

  • To source, evaluate and recommend IT systems for purchase and upgrade.  Activities here will include developing request for proposal (RFP), tender documents for major IT projects or IT-related sub-contractor works, performance testing, short listing of suppliers, and recommending the supplier to go with.  

  • To review and negotiate hardwares/softwares maintenance contracts and software licensing with IT suppliers.  

  • To run an efficient department with an optimal staff level and operate a responsive IT support service to all IT users, which addresses systems problems /failures.  The incumbent prepares a duty roster of IT personnel to provide the support services. If necessary, the incumbent assists his/her IT staff to  troubleshoot IT systems problems/failures and provides a higher level of technical consultancy services to solve IT problems/failures.   

  • To manage all associated activities in respect of IT systems changes thereby promoting seamless changes and minimizing disruptions to operations.  Incumbent ensures that user departments’ staffs are competently trained to run the new systems in place.    

  • To educate IT users on correct usage of IT systems and associated IT supplies and accessories to minimize systems failure.   This role requires the incumbent to constantly update his/her IT knowledge such as new software releases and IT tools.  

  • To supervise IT staff and assign them work in accordance with priorities and skill capabilities so as to ensure optimum contributions to hotel operations. In this regard, the incumbent ensures that the IT staffs are well-trained to support the systems they are supposed to specialize in.  

  • To conduct performance review of department staff and provide honest feedback on their respective performance, the aim being to guide and improve where there is a shortfall in performance and reinforces the performance, if performance has reached an acceptable level of competency.    

Talent Profile

  • Minimum of 7 years of IT experience, which will include 3 years of IT experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Implementation experience in ERP packages, CISCO switches and routers, corporate wireless internet surfing, DSL, lease lines, property management systems, revenue management systems, purchasing systems, point of sale systems, etc. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or business studies.
  • Microsoft certification
  • Proficiency in Windows, Unix and other operating systems.
  • Good knowledge of multi property emails, websites, DNS and CISCO networks.
  • Good knowledge of hotel operations.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Customer oriented.
