ABOUT PARKROYAL ON PICKERING

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Director of Sales directs the day-to-day activities, plans, organises, develops and communicates strategies and goals for the team.  He or she is responsible for developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and implementing sales strategies for the various geographical/industry sectors under his/her care.  The Director of Sales works hand in hand with the Director of Sales & Marketing to create and implement hotel-level tactical sales plans; analyse current/potential market and sales trends and coordinate all activities to maintain and increase revenue and market share through added business volume and increased rate for the hotel.

  • Formulation and direction of the sales team strategy and targets and leading the sales team to achieve the overall targets within budget
  • Works together with the Director of Sales & Marketing to support the development of the Sales & Marketing Plan in line with corporate goals and objectives
  • Follows hotel performance and short term forecasts to find weak periods and identifies customers for those periods
  • Responsible for ensuring overall revenue goals are achieved and/or exceeded by maximising room revenue through solicitation of past and new business participation in sales meetings, associate outings, recreational activities and in settling an outstanding personal example for other hotel associates to follow
  • Conducts market research on competitors and latest industry news to identify business development opportunities
  • Continuously solicits for new business and meet with key clients and assists the sales team with maintaining relationships, negotiations and closing deals
  • Participates in the sales, revenue and group review meeting
  • Attends tradeshows, travel functions, business functions or as required/directed by the Director of Sales & Marketing
  • Assists the Director of Sales & Marketing to attract, retain, train and motivate a diverse sales force and build a top notch sales team
  • Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop the sales team
  • Provides leadership on the day-to-day operations of the sales team, which maintains focus on the department and company’s strategic goals
  • Provides clear directions which would simplify the role of the support staff
  • Comprehends the hotel’s business plans and strategic directions
  • Demonstrates good working relationship with other departments maintaining effective communication and teamwork
  • Comprehends, digests and complies to hotel policies and procedure as described in the Associate Handbook and other documents
  • Adheres to all established policies and procedures relating to administration of accounts and ultimate booking of business
  • Prepares periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion
  • Accomplishes and/or exceeds personal and team’s established targeted revenue
  • Demonstrates professionalism and outstanding people relation skills with excellent communication and motivation skills
  • Champions and assists the Director of Sales & Marketing in driving sales

TALENT PROFILE:

  • Possesses a minimum of 6 years experience within the hospitality, services or travel related industry
  • Minimum 2 years leading the corporate sales function within a hotel property
  • Experience selling across geographical/industry markets
  • Proven track record in generating revenue within a corporate sales function
  • Has exposure to developing and formulating department or team revenue goals
  • -Experience managing key customer relationships
