The incumbent assists to receive, sort and issue linen and uniforms.
The following personal qualities and characteristics are required by a person in the position to perform the tasks to the defined standards
a) To receive and check delivery of clean linen and uniforms from laundry and to ensure the number of pieces is returned are correct, and any shortages to indicate clearly in the delivery chit.
b) To sort and check room and F&B linen and to ensure all linen are clean without tear and stains.
c) To issue room linen and to ensure the actual amount and the correct items are issued back to the respective floors.
d) To issue F&B linen and to ensure that the actual amount is issued.
e) To issue uniforms and to ensure that the uniforms are issued on exchange basis – a dirty set for a clean set.
f) To count soiled linen and uniforms before they are collected by the Laundry Contractor for washing. To ensure that the counting of the items are correct and the actual amount recorded accurately in the collection chit.
g) To bring fresh linen from Linen Room to floor pantries and to carry out this task at stipulated time and ensure that the correct quantity and items are sent to the correct floor pantry.
h) To patch torn linen, mend and alter uniforms, curtains, etc, replace missing and broken buttons and zips and ensure items are neatly patched or mended.
i) To receive and store delivery of new linen and uniforms and to ensure that the quantity of the items received are correct and without tear or stains.
j) To mark all new linen and uniforms and to ensure the markings are correct and visible.
k) To assist Assistant Housekeeper/Linen Keeper in taking linen inventories and ensures all items in the Linen Room and F & B outlets are accurately counted.
l) To do minor upholstery repairs, alter curtains in guest rooms and public areas and ensure items are neatly patched or mended.
m) To sew costumes, tray cloths, aprons, baby blankets, etc and ensure items are correctly and neatly sewn.
n) To repair and alter clothes of guests upon requests and to ensure it is correctly and neatly sewn.
o) To clean linen room and ensure cleanliness of the area.
p) To attend all training sessions as requested.
q) To assist new colleagues in training (buddy system).
r) To be fully aware and competent in the following at all times :
a) Hotel Fire procedures
b) Hotel Security procedures
c) Hotel Departmental operational standards and procedures
d) Customer Service Standards.
a) Experience in similar capacity.
b) Minimum Primary level.
