The incumbent assist to maintain the cleanliness of the rooms to ensure guests satisfaction.
a) To clean and maintain guest rooms by :
I. The bed linen should be changed according to established procedures and make-up beds as per requirements.
II. To ensure all furniture, fittings and fixtures are free from dust, dirt and stains.
III. To ensure the carpets are thoroughly vacuumed and are free from debris, hair and sand.
IV. To ensure the bathrooms and fixtures are dry, clean, free of stains and smell and all traces of detergent removed.
V. To wash crockery, cutlery and glassware and ensure that they are dry, clean and free of stains.
VI. To replenish room and bathroom amenities and supplies are adequately replenished and are according to established requirements.
VII. To provide Night-Turn-Down service and ensure they are turned down according to the established procedures and time.
VIII. To report on maintenance faults and defects of guests’ room and corridors and to ensure all faults and defects are rectified.
IX. To report on any loss and damage linen, furniture, fixtures or equipment and to ensure that they are accounted for, replaced or fixed.
b) To check on mini-bar consumption and ensure all consumed drinks are reported to Housekeeping. To ensure the Minibar Consumption form and the Minibar Replenishment form are correctly filled and the items are replenished correctly.
c) To fill Room Attendant Daily Report and to ensure all information in the report are correctly recorded.
d) To be responsible for the Master key card and to ensure the master key is solely in the custody of the Room Attendant and it is not allowed to pass to any other department staff or outsiders.
e) To maintain the par level of room linen, room and bathroom supplies in the pantry and to keep the pantry neat and clean. To ensure that the pantry is stocked according to par level and all items are neatly stacked in place.
f) To maintain cleanliness and neatness of trolley and to ensure that the trolley is not overstocked.
g) To ensure that the vacuum cleaners is in good working condition by regularly cleaning and emptying the vacuum cleaner. When in use handle with care.
h) To ensure that the “Lost and Found” item is sent down to the Housekeeping Office as soon as possible together with proper documentation.
i) To do a weekly requisition of room and cleaning supplies and check accordingly to par level of pantry.
j) To perform services such as delivering loan items to guests, etc and ensure item is sent immediately to guests and to retrieve it once the guest has finished with it.
k) To sign in for any keys taken and sign out for any keys returned on Key Log Book.
l) To attend all training sessions and meetings as requested.
m) To assist new colleagues in training (buddy system).
n) To be environmentally friendly and recycle paper, cans, plastic bottles and alternate change of linen in guest rooms.
o) Minimize the use of room amenities.
p) Minimize use of water and electricity.
q) To be fully aware and competent in the following at all times :
i. Hotel Fire procedures
ii. Hotel Security procedures
iii. Hotel Departmental operational standards and procedures
iv. Customer Service Standards.
Experience as a maid preferred.
Education, minimum primary level.
