TABODWE - “Htamane” Festival

Tabodwe is the eleventh month of the Myanmar calendar. In this Harvest festival,all farm and garden produce goes into making"htamane,a"concoction of glutinous rice,sesamum seeds,peanuts ,shredded coconut,falavoured with ginger and mixed with cooking oil,Htaname feast is either celebrated communally or in a private circle of family and friend.The nature of the feast is that, in whatever way its celebrated,it has to be in big gathering because many hands are needed;where people come along with contributions of glutinous rice and other ingredients. The month of Tabodwe is the harvest festival, all the products of the farm and garden go into make ''htamane''a concoction of glutinous rice, sesamum seeds, peanuts, shredded coconut, flavoured with ginger and mixed with cook oil. Htamane feast is either celebrated communally or done just in the private circle of family and friends. The nature of the feast is such that, in whatever way the feast is celebrated, it means a big gathering because many hands are needed. In a communal feast people come around with contributions of glutinous rice and other ingredients.

FULL MOON OF TABAUNG

Armed Forces Day

Myanmar celebrates Armed Forces Day on March 27 to commemorate the day that Aung San Suu Kyi rebelled against the Japanese. It is celebrated with a military parade and fireworks. Since 1989, the Myanmar military, had made it a tradition to pardon several prisoners on Armed Forces Day.

Commemorating the Buddha's first sermon,this festival also marks the beginning of the Buddhist Lent. Thadingyut Festival (Festival of Lights)

Marking the end of Buddhist Lent, this festival, held on the full moon day of Thadingyut,It lasts for three days during which houses and streets are festively decorated and lit up. People crowd into their local pagodas to offer alms and make merit. Younger people would also pay homage to their parents, elders and teachers.

Tazaungdaing Lighting Festival

The Tazaungdaing festival, also known as the Festival of Lights, is held on the full moon day of the month of Tazaungmone in Myanmar Calendar.  Houses and public buildings are colorfully illuminated with lanterns and candle lights. It also marks the season which monks are offered new robes and alms. On that day,stars are brightly obvious at midnight, and people usually eat curry vegetable in belief that consuming the bitter Maezali bud salad will free them from all diseases,Streaming from that belief,the Maezali bud salad is usually shared among friends,and this is one of the treasured habits of Myanmar.
