More about PEOPLE’S SQUARE AND PEOPLE’S PARK

Opened in 1990, People’s Park is located near the western stairways of Shwedagon Pagoda, and is famous for its large concrete water fountain. The structure forms the centrepiece of a flower-lined marble esplanade, where over three thousand trees and plants are found in the Park.

A little over half of the complex is People’s Square, where National Day and other national events are held. A small museum occupies a corner of the Square and houses a permanent exhibition of dioramas of various Burmese ethnic groups.
