ABOUT THE KOE HTAT GYI PAGODA

The grounds surrounding the Koe Htat Gyi Pagoda are steeped in myths and legends, and according to local folklore, a giant frog and snake once had an altercation here, which ended with the frog devouring the snake in victory. In memory of this tale, statues of a frog and a snake can be found next to the entrance to the prayer room at Koe Htat Gyi Pagoda.

Immerse yourself in the many small shops and vendors that pepper the area, selling a variety of items including flowers and incense to use in offerings and rituals, as well as a fascinating array of religious memorabilia.
