The Lake Gardens
Officially renamed the Perdana Botanical Gardens in 1975, the Lake Gardens have seen numerous transformations since they were first established in 1888. Originally created to provide a public recreational space in the city's centre, recent years have seen the park's 92 hectares repurposed to house collections of rare fruit trees, herb gardens, fish ponds and waterfalls.
The Lake Gardens Guided Tours
Each weekday at 8:00am, visitors are invited to embark on a two hour guided walking tour through the Gardens in the company of a skilled guide. For travellers preferring to sight see at their own pace, the park is open daily from 7:00am to 8:00pm. Rent a bike and coast beneath leafy canopies or stroll through the Hibiscus Garden to see an elegant display of Malaysia's national flower.
